Why should I service my car

Unlike an MOT, car servicing is not a legal requirement, however, there are multiple benefits from regularly servicing your car.

Proof of regular servicing will help you sell your car in the future as there is peace of mind that the car has been regularly inspected by professionals and the chance of any underlying issues are minimised.

Regular servicing will also offer you complete peace of mind when you are driving your vehicle that it has undergone the necessary checks to prevent anything going wrong with little or no warning. There is no good time for anything to go wrong with your car, but regular servicing can reduce the chance of costly issues arising at inconvenient times.

If you use your car for commuting or on regular journeys with your family, you should consider an annual interim service to prevent your car being out of action. A service will uncover issues before they become serious.

How much does a car service cost

Here at BCC Cars, we are transparent about our pricing. Hyundai servicing is from £89, depending on the level of service you require.

How long does a car service take

Car servicing usually takes around 2 hours to complete, so you can either leave your vehicle with us whilst you are at work, or simply collect once the service is complete.

How often should you service your car

This depends entirely on the car itself and the journeys it does. A Base Service should be completed if you plan on doing a particularly long journey or taking the car on a staycation to ensure it is running smoothly and no unexpected breakdowns are imminent. An Interim Service would ideally be completed once a year, especially if you do around 10,000 miles per annum and a Full Service should be completed once every few years, even with regular Interim servicing.

What is included in a car service

The level of service you choose will determine what checks and inspections are completed. A base service will cover the most basic checks whereas the full service will include a wide range of advanced checks. A typical interim service includes, but not limited to;

  • Oil and filter change
  • Brake and clutch fluid
  • Parking brake check – adjusted as necessary
  • Turbo/intercooler inspection
  • Drive belt inspection

If anything comes back as either an advisory or a fault, you will be required to action these either immediately, or in the near future (depending on the severity of the issue).
