Citroën Hybrids & Electric - BCC Cars, Blackburn & Bolton
Citroën’s electric innovation team are working hard behind the scenes to perfect electric and plug-in hybrid technology, so it can be applied in the real-world in a way that will truly benefit motorists. Such is their progress, that from 2020 all brand-new Citroën cars will be available in an electrified version.
Electric cars
Citroën electric cars are silent and designed to charge very quickly. They are cheap to run and great to drive - a perfect way to get around.
The Citroën C-Zero was Citroen’s first all-electric car. It’s a super-modern, super-cute little city car with a 93-mile range and zero emissions. It charges from 0 to 80% in just 30 minutes at a charging station rated for 50 kWh. Every time you let off the throttle, the C-Zero’s kinetic energy is converted into electric energy which recharges the batteries. Silent and nippy, the driving experience is a far cry from petrol. Simply awesome.
Plug-in hybrids
Citroën is expected to launch a new range of plug-in hybrids from 2020. They recently unveiled the C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid Concept at the Paris Motor Show.
The C5 Aircross SUV Hybrid Concept will be the brand’s first plug-in hybrid. It offers an efficient drive for every journey, with a 50-mile electric range and a petrol engine which can boost range to over 300-miles. It pairs a PureTech 180 engine with an 80-kW electric motor, and there’s a new 8-speed automatic gearbox for seamless performance. You’ll be able to switch between ZEV, Hybrid and Sport modes to suit the road.
Other low emission vehicles
Citroën also has the E-Berlingo, an all-electric compact van, and the E-Mehari, an all-electric beach buggy not available in the UK. All brand-new internal combustion-powered Citroën’s feature a Euro 6.2 compliant engine - the latest emissions standard. Citroën aims to electrify 80% of their vehicle range by 2023 and 100% by 2025.
